Carnival in Vienna Fundraiser

Los Altos, CA – The annual Music for Minors fundraising gala was held Saturday, February 6, at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club. Featuring a performance by celebrity sponsor and Broadway soprano, Lisa Vroman, the elegant evening boasted a “Carnival in Vienna” theme, complete with crystal candelabras and a string quartet playing Strauss at the entrance.

This successful event, now in its fifth year, celebrated record-breaking results, with more than $200,000 raised toward subsidies for under-resourced schools that would otherwise not receive music education programs.

“Every year, we reach more and more children through our incomparable programs, only thanks to the support of our incredible donors and community partners,” said Sonja Palmer, Executive Director.

“This year’s event brought the highest caliber performance, setting, and atmosphere possible to our guests, and, in turn, they responded with record-breaking support. We are so grateful that our message was heard, and that the answer is clear: more music for more children!” Founded in Los Altos in 1976, Music for Minors is a leading provider of comprehensive, sequential music education programs for elementary schools throughout three Bay Area counties.

In 2016, more than 23,000 children will be served across 800 classrooms ranging from transitional kindergarten to fifth grade. Of these, 50 percent are in underserved, socioeconomically disadvantaged schools. The mission of Music for Minors is to nurture in children a lifelong love of music. Music for Minors is a 501 (c)(3) organization, supported by major foundations, corporations, and hundreds of generous individual donors.
