Marcy Straw has provided consulting services in interim leadership, fundraising, strategy, and marketing to nonprofits and artists since founding her practice in 1990. Her recent projects include work with Berkeley Symphony, Anna Deavere Smith Pipeline Project, Theatreworks, and Eugenie Chan Theater Projects. Marcy has also served as Executive Director for the Klein String Competition, UC Student Association, Bay Area Leadership Foundation, Teatro ZinZanni, and Midsummer Mozart Festival, and held leadership roles at organizations such as Pacific Environment, California Shakespeare Theater, and ODC Dance. She holds an MBA from John F. Kennedy University and is a proud enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Sonja has a 30-year history as a music educator, professional singer, and arts administrator. She has a BA in music from Bethany College and an MM from Wichita State University. She has held positions in higher education with private and community colleges in Kansas, performed as a professional chorister with San Francisco Symphony Chorus and San Francisco Opera, worked as an executive or consultant with Cantabile Youth Singers, Blue Bear School of Music, Music at Kohl Mansion, and Mid-Summer Mozart Festival. Sonja has also held board leadership positions with the San Francisco Chapter of the National Recording Academy (Grammys) and with the American Guild of Musical Artists.

Michael has been a music educator for nearly 20 years, working with students of all ages in grades TK-12 in public schools, nonprofits and after-school programs, from Monterey County, Sacramento and now the Bay Area. He also brings 10 years of administration and management experience for youth music and academic organizations, working in programming, operations and development. Michael received his BA in Music Education with a Vocal/Choral Emphasis from San Jose State University and is a certified Orff Music Teacher.

Anne has been teaching music for 25 years, working in a wide variety of educational environments. She started at MFM in 2012 as an educator teaching grades TK-5. In 2016, she was promoted to her current role and charged with the task of adapting, renovating, and improving MFM’s curriculum (completed in 2023).

During this process, Anne became interested in the bespoke applications used to distribute the curriculum to MFM’s educators and learned how to code.  She wrote the application which manages MFM’s inventory of tens of thousands of teaching resources. Anne is now managing and contributing hands-on to the reinvention of MFM’s curriculum and its associated distribution application, which will allow educators to easily deliver world-class lessons that are tailored to the needs of their specific students.

Karl received a Master’s degree in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College Dublin and a BA in Computer Science from NUI Galway. After gaining experience as a web developer for startups in Ireland; he composed music that was placed on several national TV advertisements. He moved to the Bay Area in 2013 where he continues to write and produce music as well as further his passion for technology.

Star has over five years of administrative experience that includes recruiting, HR, payroll, and the management of day-to-day office operations. Before her administrator roles, she was a cake decorator for 10 years – bringing smiles to people’s faces with creativity and skill. Star’s love of music has been a constant, and she enjoys dabbling with such diverse instruments as violin, piano, and steel drums.

Benjamin has a BA in Music from San Francisco State University and brings over 10 years of experience working in educational programs around the Bay Area, including seven as an MFM Music Educator. He also founded the faith-based music group, Bay Worship Collective, where he helps with songwriting and production.

Katie earned a Bachelors of Music in French Horn Performance, from San Francisco State University. Her music has taken her all over the world, including performing in Scotland at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Playing didgeridoo on stage at the Sydney Opera House, and traveling with the SF Symphony and Chorus to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall. Katie contributes her artistry and administrative superpowers as Assistant Manager for Peninsula Youth Orchestra since 2004, as well as Coordinator of Programs for Music for Minors.

Dylan has a Bachelor's in Music (Music Composition) from Willamette University, and has an extensive background in classical piano study and performance. His teaching experience includes undergraduate writing as well as summer programs for children aged three to fifteen.
