About Music for Minors
Transforming children’s lives through music education since 1976
Overview
Founded in 1976, Music for Minors (MFM) is a Bay Area nonprofit dedicated to nurturing in children a lifelong love of music. For five decades, MFM has helped ensure that students have access to high-quality music education during the school day.
Our programs are culturally relevant, standards-based, and aligned with California Visual and Performing Arts Standards and the National Core Arts Standards. Through singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, and music from many cultures, students build creativity, confidence, community, and foundational music skills.
Today, MFM partners with schools and districts across the Bay Area, serving thousands of students each week with a focus on equitable access to the arts. Our programs are funded through school program fees, individual donors, and government, foundation, and institutional support.
