Michael Schmitz, DMA, has been a professional music educator and college professor for more than 40 years. He served as Director of Piano and Instrumental Studies at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, where he is now Professor Emeritus. He is currently involved in real estate operations with his wife.
Michael began his music studies at age 7 and quickly knew that music would become his career. He went on to earn bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in piano performance. Having gone through the music education programs in Burlingame public schools himself, he is excited to now support programs that bring music to children.
