Music for Minors (MFM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality music education to elementary school students. With nearly 50 years of expertise, our mission is to nurture in children a lifelong love of music. By nurturing a love for music, we equip children with skills and experiences that enrich their educational journey and personal growth. Operating in the San Francisco Bay Area, our programs reach thousands of students from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade each year, offering a rich variety of musical experiences that are:

The MFM curriculum is diverse, blending cultural and instrumental music education. Lessons include singing, listening, reading, theory, movement, dancing, and rhythm. Each year builds upon previous learning, enabling students to develop a strong musical foundation. Our teachers are trained to provide comprehensive music instruction in general music, recorders, and classroom management. Behind the scenes, our dedicated staff works tirelessly to support and expand our programs, ensuring the highest standards of music education are maintained.

Through the generosity of foundations, corporations, and individual donors, MFM brings music into classrooms where it otherwise might not be available, thanks to partnerships with local school districts and supporters like the Leo M. Shortino Family Foundation, the Los Altos Town Crier Holiday Fund, Carlsen Subaru's Share the Love Campaign, and the Bothin Foundation.
