Alisa began playing flute as an elementary school student in Anchorage, Alaska, and continued through college, where she performed with the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Music and Molecular & Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and later a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. After working as an epidemiologist with the Baltimore City Health Department, she spent the past 15 years supporting San Mateo schools through classroom volunteering and leadership on parent boards. Alisa is excited to join Music for Minors and hopes to pass on her love of music to a new generation of students.
